ABOUT JAMES

Who is Wedding Photographer James Clarke?

“Hey, I’m James - born in Kent, but raised in beautiful Somerset. I am a Wedding Photographer who loves to take natural, candid, unobtrusive styled wedding photographs throughout the UK and beyond.”

Capturing Your Special Moments

Since I’ll be getting to know your story while capturing your big day, let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I’m so passionate about wedding photography.

I’ve pretty much had a camera in my hands since I was a kid. Whether it was a wind-up camera taking those classic holiday snaps (and some truly disastrous selfies), or a camcorder filming underwater clips on family trips, I’ve always loved capturing life. Even while chasing my dream in the pool as an athlete and coach, photography was my sidekick.

My Passion for Photography

When COVID hit and life changed for all of us, I decided it was time to turn my passion into a full-time gig. With the support of my amazing wife and as a dad to two beautiful girls, I took the plunge into photography and never looked back.

What inspired me to be a wedding photographer and what’s important to me?

Funny enough, it all started with my own wedding photographer and watching another photographer at my sister’s wedding. After shooting a few weddings for friends, I was hooked. There’s nothing like capturing the joy of two people saying “I do” — it never gets old, and I doubt it ever will!

Telling the Story of Your Special Day

What I love most about weddings is being part of your story. I’ll probably tear up during the speeches (it happens), and by the end of the day, I’ll feel like I’ve known you for years, not just hours. It’s not just about taking photos for me; it’s about capturing every detail and being fully present in the moment. My coaching background kicks in when I try to learn everyone’s names as quickly as possible — by the end of the day, I feel like part of the crew.

Blending in with the Wedding Guests

Building a connection with couples is everything to me. The more relaxed and comfortable you feel, the better your photos will be. If I can help you feel at ease, you’re more likely to be your authentic selves in front of the camera, and that’s when the magic happens.

Why I love wedding photography?

Honestly, I LOVE taking photos (as if you couldn’t tell by now). There’s something so special about sharing those photos with couples and seeing their reactions — it’s the best feeling in the world. I know it’s a big deal to invite someone into one of the most important days of your life, and I don’t take that lightly. From the first chat to your wedding day, I’m here to make sure you feel comfortable and excited about the whole process.

When I’m not photographing weddings, I’m usually snapping sports events, so there’s rarely a day I’m not behind the camera. It’s what I love, and I feel super lucky to do it. I can’t wait to bring that same energy and passion to your big day!

My Approach

I call myself an extroverted, introvert. I absolutely love working with people, but at the same time I enjoy time to myself and driving my business forward. On your wedding day, I will throw myself at everything, but my main aim is to make you relax and enjoy your big day.

I shoot in a very natural, informal and unobtrusive way. There are times for more posed photos which I love, but the main thing I want to capture is the smiles, tears and everything in between.

Wedding Enquiries to Delivery of Your Photos

Right from your enquiry until the delivery of your photos, I strive to make myself as known to you as a couple as possible. From multiple calls, to keeping in touch emails, I want to eradicate the awkwardness of only seeing you for the first time on your wedding day.
